Goal: To be a Hunger Games Victor.
So, I started the Hunger Games about a week ago and I literally could not put it down. That's where I was last week... Glued to a book. I finished up Book 2 the other night and I won't start the third one until I accomplish some real life tasks, i.e. dishes, laundry, shopping, blogging... :D
I'm not even really quite sure why I love this book so much. It's super angsty. I don't like the main character's personality. The name's are lameo... Peeta (I can't help but think of either A - Pita bread or B - A thug version of Peter) and Katniss, really...? It's also somewhat predictable, but I'll be honest, it's really killing me trying to figure out if she's going to end up with Peeta or Gale. Oh the love triangle hath sucked me in. And for the record, if she doesn't end up with Peeta I will freak out and officially label this book as a complete and utter waste of time. And if anyone ruins the ending for me, you shall face immediate unfriending.
I think this book could be amazing if it were written for adults and by a different author... Oh someone please, please make it happen! I haven't watched the movie yet, but definitely plan on it once I'm done reading. It better be good. I am really into this whole futuristic post-end-of-the-world thing though. I enjoy thinking about what if's. But if I'm going to win the Hunger Games, I seriously need to get my bootie in shape. And maybe learn some life-saving or life-taking skills... Perhaps both. Any suggestions? :D
The Hunger Games spent four days consuming my life, so while I was still taking pictures I wasn't posting them! I'll skip on the 90 food pictures, but I did want to show you what I got in the mail!
I have been wanting to get Steve's PaleoKits forevvver. I ordered them and was waiting and waiting (well not really because it shipped really quick! but I was overly eager!) and would you believe it, I got home from running errands and found a notice on my door saying I missed the delivery! But you better believe that before I even had breakfast, I trekked down to the office and picked it up there!
A couple months ago we were driving home at night and one of the hills here has a huge lighted star on it. Calliegh told me, she's going to wish upon that star. Not two seconds later, she says "Dear Star... Oh how I wish you would make cereal healthy!" So I ordered this Paleo Krunch granola especially for her :D
And would you just look at these ingredients! I know what each of them are and where they come from. Love it <3
While the girls gobbled down whole-fat Greek yogurt with their Paleo Krunch, I had this for breakfast:
Yep, just jerky for breakfast :D I've also tried the grass-fed jerky. It is honestly the best I have ever had. I highly recommend it! Check out the store for some awesome eats, and also Steve's Club to find out how your purchases help inner-city youth. Pretty cool stuff <3 Small businesses like Steve's are the kind I don't mind giving my money to!
I don't know if I've ever mentioned my weak feet and high arches before, but I've got 'em. It's been a challenge to do Insanity (especially the yoga-type stretches) wearing the running shoes I have. I felt they were too high, too much cushion, and it caused my feet to tilt or even slide around. I usually end up doing it barefoot but lately my arches have started aching. So I went to the PX determined to find new shoes.
I've always thought the barefoot shoes look like a healthy/natural option but I really feel like I need some support on my arches. I haven't actually tried on the barefoot shoes though, so I can't say they wouldn't work. But what I do know is that I am in love with the minimalist shoes I did get. I wore them around all evening and they felt amazing. I actually can't wait to exercise and see how they work out for me!
The only thing I don't love is the color (I'm not really into dark athletic shoes)(and maybe also that they make my feet look ridiculously long, in the same way my Converse do), but whatever... comfort won out. They have more colors online and if my workout tomorrow goes well and I love them as much as I think I will, I can always order another pair in a color I do like.
I'll let you guys know tomorrow!
Fooood:
Breakfast: Eggs with salsa verde and avocado.
Dinner: Burger, salad, asparagus.
I'm not sure what I had for lunch and where its picture went... But dinner was so, so good. The burger was made with the organic grass-fed beef I picked up from Sprouts. Man, nothing compares to good quality meat.
Dessert: Berries, walnuts, and a 60% dark chocolate drizzle.
I saw this out of the corner of my eye when I walked into my bedroom last night:
It gave me quite a start, haha.
More foooood:
Breakfast: Eggs and jalapeno chicken sausage.
This is the sausage I picked up from Costco... so good. But warning... it has a tendency to squirt all over the place when you bite it, haha.
Lunch: Salmon burgers, sweet potato chips, and broccoli.
Dinner: Plantain pancakes, almond butter, cinnamon and blueberries.
This was kind of a cheating dinner. But when we picked up fresh blueberries I knew I just had to make these plantain pancakes to go with them. I hardly put any almond butter on them though and zero syrup :) Still amazing.
And just so you guys know, I make zero money with my blog. I don't get free stuff or anything like that. All my opinions are unbiased; I just like sharing great stuff with you all! I wouldn't mind it tho ;)
The food that you make looks so yummy!!
